Michelle: So were you just recently prescribed by your general dentist on wearing your night guard but you’re just unsure on exactly how to to wear it?
Michelle: Well, my name’s Michelle and I’m a dental assistant with Solutions and I’m going to explain to you on how you can wear your night guard. It’s pretty much easy, depending on the night guard that your dentist prescribed, whether it’s a hard night guard, a medium night guard or a soft night guard would determine on how to wear it.
Michelle: Usually with the hard night guards it actually locks your upper and your lower teeth into place so therefore you cannot grind back and forth whenever you’re sleeping.
Michelle: A medium size night guard is similar to the hard but it’s not as thick or bulky. And then a soft night guard is very pliable. It looks similar to this. It moves easily, it has a lot of flexibility to it. But if you do have to wear a hard night guard, you would just place it in your mouth and then you actually bite down on your back teeth. So therefore your upper and lower back teeth will kind of click into place and that will prevent you from grinding. And then you just wear it for the recommended time as far as eight hours or while you’re sleeping or or whatever your dentist prescribes to you. And then you just take it out in the morning, of course, you know, give it a good brush with your toothbrush and toothpaste to kind of keep it clean. And then proceed throughout your day.
Michelle: But depending on what type of night guard you have been prescribed for, then you would just wear accordingly to what your dentist has recommended.
Michelle: But once again, my name is Michelle and I’m a dental assistant with Solutions and I just explained to you on how you can wear your night guard.
